Vaassen, January 8, 2022 – It is with great pain we have to announce that Gerrit Heering passed away at the age of 72 on January 6, 2022. Together we look back at an impressive life, in which he led Heering between 1978 and 2004 with vision and enthusiasm.
In Carrosseriefabriek Heering, a bodywork factory at the Stationsstraat, Gerrit’s career as a salesman started in 1970. In the years that followed, the family business moved to the current location at the Spinfondsweg. Alongside his father Paul Heering, Gerrit became co-owner of the company in 1978. A few years later, he ran the company by himself. It’s the period in which Heering for the first time specialized in day-old chick transport. Heering also manufactured other types of bodies for different purposes, such as refrigerated transport and general cargo. Whilst the company used to mainly act regionally, it now holds a place as a national competitor.
Gerrit gives a new impulse by initiating several innovative activities, such as climate control for day-old chick transport, specialized technical services in transport refrigeration and rental services. Thanks to his enthusiasm, Heering was a trusted partner for many leading transport companies in the Netherlands and made the first step towards foreign expansion, with day-old chick trucks in Western Europe.
When Patrick took the helm in 2004, it was by no means the end of Gerrit’s involvement. He was engaged with the people in the company and he was always there with advice and assistance, even in his last weeks and months. As a family, despite the sadness, we are happy he has now found his rest.
