The storage of chicks is often done inefficiently. Transport-ready chicks are kept in a storage area and have to be loaded onto the truck once it arrives. Finding available on-site space that is both accessible from within the hatchery as to the truck often requires making compromises. The Interchangeable Chick Storage Unit cleverly uses the available space at loading docks.

The Interchangeable Chick Storage Unit can be placed at dock level in front of a loading dock. Trucks can reverse their chassis underneath the interchangeable unit, containing the transport-ready chicks, attach it and drive it to its destination. Once the truck is gone a new unit can be placed in which the next shipment can be stored. The interchangeable unit not only offers more energy and space-efficient chick storage, in comparison to traditional storage spaces, it speeds up the loading process and uses the available space in front of loading docks.
